As we all know, the summer officially begins on the 4th of July Weekend. That is unless you’re on a boat on Buzzards Bay!
How many 4th of July boat plans were spoiled by the Southwester blowing 25 knots?
For some meteorological reason, we always seem to get wind, waves, and some fog in late June and early July on Buzzards Bay. For this reason, my heart is warmed as I look forward to this coming 4th of July Weekend.
First and foremost, it is my wonderful daughter Natalie‘s annual vacation week. I can’t wait to see her, my son-in-law Brian, and my beautiful little grandson Jack.
Second, Mrs. Horne’s sister Gail and Rudy (the other half of my Fitchburg band Two Lost Souls) are arriving momentarily and despite the Southwest wind blowing 25, we’re going to head over to The Chartroom for lunch and a little gunkholing behind Bassetts Island.
Third, we have a wedding on Saturday afternoon at the Danversport Yacht Club. We’re not going by boat, but it will fun to check out a new seaside venue.
Fourth, with any luck, we’ll be taking Vigilant along with gradson Jack, Natalie, Brian, Gail, Rudy, and Mrs. Horne to The Sail Loft Sunday afternoon for food and live music.
Finally, the forecast for Monday and beyond looks great; especially the 4th of July!
As I bid you all a safe and memorable 4th of July, let me leave you with some of my fondest memories of 4th of July’s gone by.
Here’s wishing you the best!
Dave
