Last year we discovered a great midsummer getaway. We started in Cuttyhunk, then Menemsha, and ended the day with lunch in Falmouth. It’s far less crowded than most summer venues and at $3/foot, the slips on the islands are half the cost of the more civilized destinations.
This year we started on Menemsha and went on to Cuttyhunk for Saturday night with the hope of joining the Trivia Contest at The Scuttlebutt Inn. Alas, the Cuttyhunk Yacht Club held their summer party on Saturday so we were left to make our own fun. We added a 3rd night on Oak Bluffs so we could see The Holy Rock and Roll Revival at The Ritz.
We were joined by our California friends Kay and Steve.
After dinner on board Vigilant in Cuttyhunk, Kay sparked a Disco Inferno with about 30 strangers in neighboring boats breaking into dance as Mrs. Horne cranked up our overpowered sound system.
I shot 22 seconds of this insanity and put it in this video.
I’ll do a full report in the coming days – but in the meantime, here’s my latest MBB Video set to Santana’s hit Smooth…
