We visited Plymouth for Columbus Day Weekend and despite the cool forecast, it actually turned out to be classic autumn weather. Saturday we headed to town for lunch and decided to try the perineal #1 lunch eatery on Yelp – Dillon’s Local.
Although not on the water, it’s just a short walk up the hill from the rotary near Tavern of The Wharf and the other seaside venues near the Harbormaster.

I think Fiddlehead has become my favorite draft IPA.
Dillon’s offers a full menu with plenty of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, dinner entrees, and homemade pizzas.
This was actually my second visit to Dillon’s. I ate here in 2017 with my friend Doug and I had the Lettuce Wrap appetizer as a light lunch…
Having discovered Lettuce Wraps at PF Changs, I am somewhat biased toward the Asian style, but these were very tasty and carefully assembled. These are stuffed with blackened Mahi Mahi, corn & crabmeat salsa, and a spicy avocado poblano ranch for $17.50.
Mrs. Horne was in a Burger mood and topped it off with Gorgonzola and Sautéed Mushrooms for $14.00
The burger is Prime Angus Beef and the mushrooms are piled generously. I never thought about combining sautéed mushrooms with Gorgonzola, but the result is incredibly savory.
I toyed with ordering a Ruben or Cubano, but settled on the pizza modified with a white sauce rather than a marinara…
It’s a 12” pizza on hand rolled dough, with mozzarella, linguica, peppers, and onions for $15.50 (a $2.00 up charge for white sauce.)
Although not quite a thin pizza, it’s very similar to the Portuguese style that’s popular along the Southcoast. The amount of ingredients was perfect and the most memorable flavor was the brick oven char on the bottom of the crust.
I always thought of Dillon’s as a lunch venue, but I think I’ll try it for dinner the next time I’m in Plymouth.
