The MBY fundraiser event is now a month away. We still have room for more at the event. When we reach room capacity, we’ll start a waiting list.
To attend the event, email Susan at hornesusan@aol.com and you’ll receive an email with the details. Act now so you don’t miss out on this special event to raise money to help rebuild the Mattapoisett Boatyard and celebrate new beginnings.
Details About the Event
The Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, October 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bay Club in Mattapoisett. Chef Mary is preparing exquisite fare including Shrimp Cocktail, Brie & Apple Crostini, Beef Tenderloin Carving Station, Pumpkin Raviolis, and more. There will also be Charcuterie and Dessert Stations.
Also, we are honored that local musician, Rebecca Coriera, will be traveling from Nashville to provide entertainment for all to relax and enjoy!
The event will have Drawings (5:00 – 6:00 PM), a Silent Auction (5:00 – 7:00 PM), and a Live Auction (7:00 – 8:00 PM).
Silent Auction Update
Our Silent Auction is up and available for online bidding now at MBY STRONG Silent Auction or go to 32auctions.com/mbystrong
We are currently listing 36 fabulous items with more being added every day. In addition to the items listed, we also have many local gift cards and certificates. Some of these will be included in gift baskets for drawings and some will be available at the silent auction.
Just a reminder, the online auction will close at 2:00 PM on October 20 and transition to an in-person event beginning at 5:00 PM at the Bay Club. The top items will be auctioned off live by John “JB” Bodenmann that evening. NOTE: There will be no bidding on the day of the event from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
Something For Everyone
We’d like to give a big SHOUTOUT to all the donors for stepping up and making our auction happen – without your generous donations, there would be no auction! Every one of these auction items is special, but some are truly PRICELESS in that you wouldn’t normally be able to purchase them.
Sports Enthusiast – The Boston Red Sox have donated four seats in their CORPORATE BOX over first base, it includes parking, and the winning bid can choose any game. Our friends the MacNeill’s and the Kings have both donated great seats at New England Patriots games. For golfers, there are several foursomes available on local courses, including the iconic Kittansett Club and the exclusive Hyannisport Golf Club. Also, Titleist has donated one of their new state-of-the-art drivers and it’s a beauty.
Boaters – We have two owner-catered cruises on Buzzards Bay, marina slips gift cards, and $1,000 in dockwa bucks. South Coast Soda Blasting has donated a great offer and the Massachusetts Marine Trade Association is offering a 2023 Annual Membership.
Foodies – Virtually all the local restaurants have donated gift cards; Brewfish, Fieldstone Farm Market, Nick’s Pizza, Oxford Creamery, Rustico, Shipyard Galley, Tastebuds, The Inn at Shipyard Park, Walrus and Captain … and a couple more are expected.
Vacation Lovers – The Simonsons (Mattapoisett) and Peg Palmer (Dartmouth) have each donated a week in their lovely vacation homes.
Miscellaneous – We have art and handmade jewelry items, photography packages, health & beauty treatments, facial and massages, a landscape gift card … and more!
We are still looking for more donations for the silent auction. If you’d like to contribute, email Dave at davidjameshorne@gmail.com.
How To Bid
Our online bidding opened about 10 days ago and thus far we’ve raised $8,585.00 through online bids. If you see something you think you’d like to buy, go to the item at MBY STRONG Silent Auction or go to 32auctions.com/mbystrong and make a bid.
Before your bid can be processed, you’ll need to create an account, but it’s really easy – just remember to write down your password!

If you have any trouble creating an account, just email Dave Horne (davidjameshorne@gmail.com).
To avoid paying service fees, we’re asking that all auction items be paid for by check payable to Mattapoisett Boatyard. We will also accept cash.
You can also still make a cash donation through the GoFundMe page which is now over $90,000!
Thank you all so much ❤️
MBY Rebuild Update
Dave and Ned have done a remarkable job clearing the rubble and establishing basic boatyard services on the site. They have been communicating the status of the rebuild to customers since day one. I have created a page on My Buzzards Bay that contains all of their status updates in reverse chronological order.
That’s all for now!
