Friends of MBY,
All of our fundraising efforts culminated in a very successful event at the Bay Club on October 20, where a sold-out crowd participated in the auction fundraiser. We did have a few crazy days matching up the winning bidders with their items, but we’re confident reporting the following funds raised for the MBY STRONG Rebuild.
Auction and Drawings – $48,464.39
GoFundMe – $100,000.00
Total – $148,464.39
We want to thank the hundreds of folks in the community who came together to make all this happen. Dave and Ned are working with a builder, and the new MBY is taking shape nicely. You should all be proud of your contribution.
As our way of saying thanks, we produced a short video capturing the entire story.
Please enjoy and share with friends and social media.
Finally, here’s a note from the Kaiser family to all of you:
“From our family at home and our greater work family, the entire MBY crew sends our most heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have offered their support. As we face down huge construction and borrowing costs, we are finding that our insurance will only cover about 1/3rdof the rebuilding. But we are moving forward with scaled-down plans (to be shared soon!) and hope to see construction begin in Spring 2023. None of this would be possible without your help! To see so many come together for our benefit has been a profound experience. As much as we never dreamed of being in this situation, we know we will get through this together!”
Best wishes to all in the coming year!
Dave and Susan Horne
Thank you, Dave and “Mrs. Horne”, for all you did to help this wonderful family and their business survive such a disaster. Your dedication is especially noteworthy in that between managing the sale of your own boat, and the need to get back to CA., you went above and beyond. As you know, I’m not from the area but have followed your adventures over the years and admire your style and “relentless” pursuit of life. My best to you this coming Holiday Season and always. Ed
